Beau McCoy Kicks Off Community
Campaign
Elkhorn – On Saturday,
January 26th, Beau McCoy, candidate for legislature
in District 39 kicked off his community campaign effort. McCoy,
joined by 22 volunteers went door to door across Elkhorn,
talking with voters and distributing literature about his
candidacy.
“I
couldn’t have been more pleased with the turnout and our effort”
said McCoy. “When you think that so many people gave up their
Saturday afternoon to walk door to door on a cold Nebraska
January day, it is very inspiring.”
District
39 runs from Sarpy County, through Douglas County and into
Washington County includes the communities of Elkhorn, Waterloo,
Bennington, Arlington, Washington and the city of Omaha.
“District 39 is very diverse” McCoy responded when asked what
the key issues in the race would be. “It will be very important
for the voters to know that I will be in each community,
learning the issues and working for them.”
Top
issues mentioned most have been excessive taxes, creation of
quality jobs, benefits to illegal aliens and assuring local
control of our schools.
“In
Elkhorn, annexation still comes up. There are many hurt feelings
and a sense that the citizens had no say in their destiny” Said
McCoy. “I think that moving forward; we need to assure voters in
communities like Elkhorn have more say in their representation.” |
